Description
Jarratt was a child who was claimed in ownership by white enslaver Elizabeth Govan Hill. He was one of twenty-nine people enslaved by Hill, documented on a list of her "servants," January 13, 1862. He is recorded as being two years old and residing in Albemarle County, Virginia. He was the son of Agnes and brother of Randall, Peggy, and Agnes' infant son. With his mother and siblings, he was trafficked and sold by Hill to be claimed in ownership by John Staige Davis on August 14, 1862.
