Description
Thomas Hewitt Key (March 20, 1799 - November 29, 1875) was a white enslaver and Professor of Mathematics at the University of Virginia (1825-1827). Between 1825-1827, Key contracted the labor of Sally Cottrell Cole from white enslaver Joseph Coolidge. In 1827, Sally was trafficked and sold to Key for $400. He immediately manumitted her.
