Description
N. B. Noland was a University of Virginia student who committed a violent assault against an unidentified child, aged 10 or 11. According to Faculty Minutes, May 2-3, 1856, Noland violently assaulted an unidentified child (referred to as a “servant girl”) at white enslaver Lucy Terrell’s boarding house. As a result, Noland was given leave to withdraw from the university (Chairman’s Journals, June 14, 1856). However, his name is listed in the Proctor’s Matriculation Book for Session 33, 1856-1857.
