Description
George Hoffman was a University of Virginia student who was among a group of students that committed a violent sexual assault against an unidentified woman as well as acts of vandalism. Faculty minutes, September 20, 1826, record that they have evidence Hoffman helped perpetrate crimes. Hoffman admitted to being present when Crawford’s “servant woman” was “stripped of her clothes” as well as during the attack on Crawford’s house. Hoffman and fellow perpetrator Turner Dixon were “reprimanded at the heads of their classes” and their parents were informed.
