Description
Thomas G. Tucker, son of Colonel John Tucker, was a University of Virginia student from Brunswick, Virginia. He broke into the home of professor and white enslaver Robert Maskell Patterson and attempted to assault an unidentified woman referred to in the Chairman’s Journals, February 5, 1830, as Patterson’s "female servant." The same entry notes that Tucker was reprimanded by the Chairman. He also met with Patterson who found that while Tucker expressed “great sorrow” for upsetting Patterson and his family he "did not seem to be much impressed with the immorality of his conduct." The Board of Visitor’s Minutes, July 18, 1828, also records an incident in which Tucker disrespected white enslaver and professor George Blaettermann.
