Description
In a letter by an unidentified daughter of John B. Minor to an unidentified aunt, Rachel is described in "close confront" with two Union "stragglers." They asked Rachel if the daughter and her cousin, Nannie, had "watchers," to which she replied she "didn’t know nothing I stay in the kitchen.” This event is recorded in a March 8, 1865, letter in the Davis-Preston Saunders Papers.
